How Jernealogy handles your information and respects your privacy.
Last updated: May 24, 2026
Introduction
Jeremy Lehmann, doing business as Jernealogy (“Jernealogy,” “I,” “me,” or “my”), is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you visit jernealogy.com, how it is used, and the choices you have. By using this website, you consent to the practices described here.
Information I Collect
Information you provide. When you use the contact form, you may share your name, email address, the topic of your message, and anything you choose to write. If you sign up for email updates, I collect the name and email address you submit so I can send occasional announcements. I only collect what you voluntarily send, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, basic technical data may be logged, such as your browser type, device, approximate location, the pages you view, and the site that referred you. This helps keep the site working well and understand how it is used.
TreeLab account information. Creating a TreeLab account is optional. If you do, I collect the name and email address associated with your account and the tree data you choose to save, such as people, dates, and places, so your trees can sync across your devices. Your original GEDCOM file is never uploaded or stored.
How I Use Your Information
- To respond to your messages and questions
- To send information you specifically request
- To send occasional email updates if you have subscribed (you can unsubscribe anytime)
- To save and sync your trees if you create a TreeLab account
- To maintain, improve, and secure the website
- To understand general traffic and content performance
- To comply with legal obligations
TreeLab & Your Genealogy Data
TreeLab, my free GEDCOM analyzer, processes your family-tree file entirely within your own web browser. Your GEDCOM file is never uploaded or stored, and no account is required to use it. If you create a free account, TreeLab saves only the tree data you choose to keep, such as people, dates, and places, so you can store up to three trees, set a home person, and sync across your devices. Your original file is never uploaded, and your data is never sold or shared. To delete your saved trees or account, just contact me.
Cookies & Tracking
This site may use cookies and similar technologies for essential functionality, to understand how the site is used, and through embedded third-party content such as YouTube videos. You can control or disable cookies in your browser settings, though some features may not work as intended if you do.
Third-Party Services & Affiliate Links
Some pages include content or links from third parties, each with their own privacy practices, including:
- YouTube. Embedded videos may set cookies and collect data under Google’s privacy policy.
- FamilyTreeDNA. The Y-DNA page contains affiliate links. If you make a purchase through them, I may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. These links are marked, and a disclosure is shown on that page.
- MailerLite. Email signups are managed by MailerLite, which stores your name and email address to deliver the updates you request. See MailerLite’s privacy policy for details.
- Supabase. If you create a TreeLab account, your sign-in details and saved tree data are stored using Supabase, a third-party hosting provider, under their security and privacy practices.
- Cloudflare Web Analytics. I use Cloudflare’s privacy-friendly analytics to understand general site traffic. It does not use cookies, does not track you across other sites, and collects only aggregate, non-identifying metrics.
- Contact form and support. Messages are delivered through a third-party form service, and a Ko-fi link is offered for optional support. Each has its own privacy policy.
I encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you interact with.
Data Security
I take reasonable measures to protect the information handled through this site. Saved TreeLab account data is stored with Supabase, a reputable third-party hosting provider, under their security practices. However, no method of transmission or storage over the internet is 100% secure, and absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal information, opt out of marketing, or withdraw consent. To make a request, including to access or delete your TreeLab account and saved trees, contact me using the details below. I do not sell your personal information.
Children’s Privacy
This website is not directed to children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided information, please contact me and I will delete it.
Changes to This Policy
I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a new “last updated” date. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the revised policy.
