Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using jernealogy.com (the “Site”), operated by Jeremy Lehmann, doing business as Jernealogy (“Jernealogy,” “I,” “me,” or “my”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

Use of the Website

Jernealogy is an educational resource for genealogy and DNA. The Site offers free content and tools, including YouTube videos, educational material about Y-DNA and family history, and TreeLab, a free GEDCOM analyzer. I am also available to speak to groups about genealogy topics. I may add, change, or discontinue any part of the Site at any time without notice.

Educational Content Only

All content on the Site is provided for general educational and informational purposes. It does not constitute professional genealogical, legal, medical, or financial advice. Genetic genealogy is an evolving field, and results and interpretations may change as the science develops. You are responsible for how you use the information provided.

TreeLab

TreeLab is provided free of charge and “as is.” It processes your GEDCOM file within your own browser and does not upload or store your data. I make no guarantee that TreeLab will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that its analysis will be complete or accurate, and you use it at your own discretion.

Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise noted, the content on this Site, including text, graphics, logos, and videos, is owned by Jeremy Lehmann and is protected by copyright and other laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or use it commercially without my permission. Brand names and logos of third parties remain the property of their respective owners.

User Conduct

When using the Site, you agree not to:

• Use the Site for any unlawful purpose
• Harass, abuse, or harm others
• Interfere with or disrupt the Site or its security
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any systems
• Submit false information or impersonate others
• Scrape or harvest data using automated means

The Site may link to third-party websites and services, which have their own terms and privacy practices. I am not responsible for their content or practices. Some links are affiliate links, including to FamilyTreeDNA. If you make a purchase through them, I may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. The Site and everything on it are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. I do not warrant that the Site will be accurate, complete, reliable, or available at all times.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Jeremy Lehmann and Jernealogy will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Site, its content, or any tools provided, or from decisions you make based on them.

Changes to These Terms

I may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a new “last updated” date. Continued use of the Site after changes means you accept the revised Terms.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any disputes will be handled in that jurisdiction.
